Isshinryu lineage: Tatsuo Shimabukuro → Harry G. Smith → Jack Sipe → Ron McClellan → John Devine
Sensei Devine began his training in May, 1968 under Sensei Ron McClellan, a student of Sensei Jack Sipe. John obtained the rank of Sho-Dan on April 4th, 1972, and began training directly under Sensei Jack Sipe at that time.
John Devine has had the privilege to train many times over the years with Master Uezu, and has been visited by Master Uezu at his own dojo 6 times. Sensei Devine has visited the Okinawan Dojo of Master Uezu on 3 occasions to train and promote better understanding of the development of traditional Isshinryu karate.
John C. Devine is holding a 8th dan in Isshinryu and was appointed as Vice-President O.I.K.K.A. in 1996.
Sensei Devine operates the Lebanon Isshinryu Karate School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
